Posting on-time this week, in a nice change of pace.
Festival Express
- Tuesday, 9:00 AM, IFC
- A documentary about The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and The Band as they tour Canada by train. Great performances and candid behind-the-scenes footage.
Blue Velvet
- Tuesday, 8:00 PM, IFC
- Definitely not a film for the squeamish, but a really good film.
Halloween
- Wednesday, 10:00 PM, IPC
- The original “Dead Teenager” movie.
Pulp Fiction
- Thursday (or Wednesday night, depending on your point of view…), 12:00 Midnight, IFC
- Speaking of good films that aren’t for the squeamish…
The Darjeeling Limited
- Thursday, 4;20 AM, HBO
- Somebody told me recently that you can only appreciate this movie if you have siblings, and that’s probably true.
Apocalypse Now Redux
- Friday, 1:00 AM, HBO
- I’ve seen the original, but not “Redux”, and I’ve only seen the original in cropped form on tiny televisions, so I’m really looking forward to seeing this.
Yojimbo
- Saturday, 8:00 AM, IFC
- Kurosawa’s famed story of a wandering samurai pitting two gangs against each other. Starring my favorite Japanese actor, and some other guy named Toshiro Mifune.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- Sunday (again, morelike Saturday night), 12:00 Midnight, IFC
- A movie I can recommend for anyone – it’s got everything. I haven’t seen it since it was released in this country; I think I’ll have to check it out again this week.
